ASM was originally founded in 1992
as a part-time moulding operation supplying polypropylene pipe
fittings to the chemical and food processing industries.
Senior Partner, Tony Kenworthy,
was a director of the Fusion Group of Companies which specialises
in the technology of jointing thermoplastic pipe systems using
what is commonly referred to as heat fusion techniques for jointing.
Tony's son, Mike who had gained manufacturing knowledge including
production, production control and quality in a number of companies
including the Fusion Group was Junior Partner.
In 1995 agreement was reached
with the Fusion Group that specialised technology which they
held could be transferred to a new company. This agreement formed
the basis of the second phase of ASM which began trading full
time in January 1996, when David Gray, the first employee was
taken on along with a secretary.
Initially ASM's main business
was manufacturing products for the Fusion Group and the first
year saw a steady turnover which met business plan objectives.
Since then the company has continued to grow in terms of turnover,
product range and employees.
Products manufactured by ASM
are primarily produced from either polyethylene or polypropylene
with the emphasis being on the capability to produce large thick
walled products. The range is from 20 grams to 30 kilograms,
sizes up to 700 mm with the wall thickness up to 100 mm. The
system of production uses relatively low-cost tooling generally
around one quarter of the cost of conventional injection moulding
tooling and the finished products are uniformly stressed under
relatively low specific pressures, therefore dimensional stability
and form are maintained.
The company also has access
to on-site CAD facilities and can offer clients a full turnkey
solution from initial design through development, testing and
evaluation, pre-production to full product operation. Difficult
and specialised projects are particularly welcome and the company
is prepared to take on low volumes, something which is not traditionally
attractive in the injection moulding industry.
ASM is currently expanding
its client base and plans to develop into other areas including,
sheet forming, vacuum forming and assembly work. The company
is pledged to continue to grow to become a substantial player
in the market.
Our latest product is the "Stakepot"

The culture of the company
is to involve its employees at all stages with particular emphasis
on training, primarily in the fields of health and safety, basic
skills and specialised skills through NVQs; ASM is an Investor
in People.
The company is BS EN ISO9002
registered with BSI
